Young Matildas fall to Brazil in wet and wild World Cup encounter
The Young Matildas have it all to play for in their final group game after going down to Brazil 2-0 at the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. Torrential rain in Costa Rica wreaked havoc. With puddles forming on the surface and the ball holding up due to the deluge, the match was delayed for over an hour due to the conditions with play pausing in the 28th minute. Prior to the rain delay, Brazil managed to find the opener through some neat build-up play.  A cut into the box was pulled back for Priscila.

Resilient Young Matildas ready to learn from Brazilian defeat
It was a tough result and tough match for the Young Matildas as they went down 2-0 to Brazil in their second group stage match of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. However, the Australian side is taking the result against the current and 11-time South American U-20 champions in their stride and apply their learnings to their final group game in Costa Rica. For head coach Leah Blayney, there were positives to take from the soggy pitch in Alajuela, as well as key areas of improvement. 'We're super competitive so we always want to win every match,' Blayney said in a post-match flash interview.

Subway Joeys secure automatic qualification to next year's AFC U17 Asian Cup™ with win over China
Gianluca Filosi 1665297756,1665302896 Nestory Irankunda once again proved decisive for Brad Maloney's side as he scored a brace and registered an assist for Miguel Di Pizio's emphatic sealer in Shepparton on Sunday afternoon. The visitors negotiated the majority of the second-half with 10 players when Cui Taixu's stray boot caught the face of Irankunda on 50 minutes. Australia settled the quickest of the two sides and they would open the scoring inside seven minutes through Irankunda. The speedster dribbled past three defenders before being fouled inside the box and the referee made no hesitation in pointing to the spot.

Young Matildas start FIFA U20 Women's World Cup campaign with a win over Costa Rican hosts
The Young Matildas have got off to the perfect start in Costa Rica, defeating the host nation 3-1 in their opening FIFA U20 Women's World Cup encounter. While the scoreline suggests a relatively comfortable Australian win, Leah Blayney and her side had to work exceptionally hard against this Costa Rican side. Australia started the brighter of the two with captain Sheridan Gallagher applying pressure to the goalkeeper, forcing a turnover, and ultimately receiving the ball. Her audacious, long-range effort needed two attempts from Genesis Perez to be claimed.
