World Bank President David Malpass on Thursday warned that the global economy was 'dangerously close' to recession and called for targeted support for the poor. 'The growth rate, we have lowered our growth forecast for 2023 from 3 percent to 1.9 percent for global growth. This is dangerously close to a global recession, which means – a global recession could occur under certain circumstances,' Malpass told reporters on the sidelines of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund annual meeting here.
