('As 2022 closes, Trump has ousted Nixon as saddest figure in post-presidency politics,' Opinion, Dec. 27.) Goldberg wrote that after Nixon resigned from the presidency in 1974, he had 'regained the reputation of a wise man.' Many would disagree with this assessment, but there are always those who will stand by their man no matter what.
